Taylor Swift's budding pseudo-relationship with One Direction's Harry Styles has earned her some.
unfair comparisons to Yoko Ono, but let's be honest: That reference is flattering to absolutely no one, except maybe Harry Styles. Taylor Swift Is No Yoko Ono
In addition to lobbing poorly spelled Twitter death threats Taylor Swift's way, some One Direction fans have taken to calling the country pop star "Yoko," insinuating that the singer's maybe relationship with heartthrob Harry Styles is causing tensions within the reality television-bred group. Swift's new nickname is fueled in part by reports that she recently whisked him off to London via private jet, leaving the rest of his groupmates to fly commercial (in first class, we're sure, but still — how dreadful). A pesky anonymous source told UK tabloid The Sun that the other 1D-ers were not happy with being left behind, adding, "It's really not far off from the Yoko situation."
Oh, but it is. It really, really is.
See, it's really lame that Yoko's name remains synonymous with "bandwrecker" after decades, even after Paul McCartney finally admitted that Ono had nothing to do with the Beatles' eventual dissolution. He actually credited Ono with helping to inspire the next phase in her husband John Lennon's career: "The group was breaking up and I think she attracted John so much to another way of life that he then went on to, very successfully, add a sort of second part to his career, writing things like 'Imagine' and 'Give Peace a Chance'. I don't think he would have done that without Yoko."
What's even lamer: Comparing One Direction to the Beatles. Because there is no comparison, other than haircuts and the ability to make young women scream.
Besides, we have yet to see Swift hit one out of the park quite like this:
