Russia's President is demanding an apology from the Netherlands over the treatment of a Russian diplomat who was allegedly attacked and forcibly detained by police in The Hague.
The diplomat was reportedly beaten, handcuffed and brought to a police station - to be released shortly afterwards. This comes as other issues spark a diplomatic spat between the countries

A pro-opposition television station in the Maldives came under attack early on Monday, when masked men started a fire which gutted the building. About six men on motorbikes threatened and chased away a security guard before setting fire to studios at Raajje TV, according to station owner Akram Kamaludeen.

Belgian firemen were protesting against national budget cuts for the fire department in Brussels on Monday. Firemen from all the country gathered in front of Prime Minister's office with fire trucks and blocked traffic in Brussels' ring road. They burned tyres in the streets and sprayed water and foam towards police guarding the protest. At some point police officers stood knee-deep in foam on the street. Talks are ongoing on the ministerial level on the new Belgian budget, and firemen are protesting against cuts in their insurance benefits and insufficient staffing.
