Death toll in Gaza rises to 313
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza reports that at least 313 people have been killed and nearly 2,000 wounded so far due to Israeli attacks.
Hundreds of Palestinian fighters killed, dozens captured: Israeli army
Daniel Hagari, the Israeli army spokesman, says hundreds of Palestinian fighters have been killed in fighting and dozens of others have been captured.
Hagari told reporters in Tel Aviv that the army was pressing on with its large-scale offensive against the Gaza Strip.
“We are targeting Hamas leaders,” he said.
Hagari added the army will utilise “its superiority in terms of firepower and we will disclose the results accordingly”.
The security forces “have harnessed all their capabilities and they will be put to maximum use in the coming hours,” he also said.

Israelis feel humiliated’: Haaretz journalist
Gideon Levy, a journalist at the Israeli daily Haaretz, has told Al Jazeera that Israelis feel humiliated by the Hamas attack and haven’t yet digested what happened or how their military was caught unawares.
“Firstly, there is this traditional Israeli ignorance that we have the strongest army and the strongest military technology. Secondly, the government expanded troops in the West Bank and left the southern front abandoned. So a combination of arrogance and change of priorities brought us to this unprecedented situation,” he said.
“It will take years for Israelis to digest this shock and trauma. But it must lead to change, where Israelis realise how they have been perceiving Palestinians in the occupied territories and Gaza so far. We have to realise that they [Palestinians] are also human beings and that they can also show military capabilities,” Levy added.

Hamas says its fighters still engaged in ‘fierce’ battles inside Israel
Hamas’s armed branch, the Qassam Brigades, says its fighters are still engaged in “fierce clashes” in several cities inside Israel.
These include Ofakim, Sderot, Yad Mordechai, Kfar Azza, Be’eri and Kissufim, according to a statement from the armed group on its Telegram channel.
Israel says it hit home of Hamas intelligence chief
The Israeli army says its forces struck the home of Hamas’s intelligence chief in the Gaza Strip.
The home was used as a military infrastructure by the group, according to the army’s statement on social media platform X.
The army continues to carry out attacks across Gaza, the statement added.

The death toll in Israel has jumped to at least 300, according to local media reports.
“But the crisis here is that, in Gaza, there are no shelters or tunnels for protection. There is nowhere to go,” she said.
