The truth about those Chris Brown and Rihanna split rumours

A RADIO station has whipped Rihanna and Chris Brown fans into a frenzy by claiming the rapper told one of their DJs they have split.

LA based station Power 106 revealed on Friday they asked the rapper directly “Are you still dating Rihanna?” and he replied “No”.


They announced the news in a tweet that read: “Are you still w/ Rihanna? Chris Brown: 'Uh, no - that’s the short answer' just now to POWER 106 LA.”

The station only released parts of the interview on their website — without the split comments — and told fans to wait for a “big announcement on Monday.”

A clip of the interview then surfaced on the web that showed Chris saying he’s single.

But it now appears the claim was all part of an elaborate April Fools joke and Chris actually made the comments last year.

A source told LA based website Hollywood Life: “The Power 106 clip (that is going around the internet) is partly new, but then it cuts to old footage, and then back to new again.

“You’ll notice he’s wearing two different sets of clothes (in the video).”

Even Chris appeared to get in on the act by retweeting a message from the station that primed listeners for a big announcement on Monday.

Fans are now waiting with baited breath to see whether it will be news about his album, or his relationship with Rihanna.

He also tweeted a photo alongside DJ Big Boy with the caption “It’s all going down right now.”

Just three days ago Chris said his relationship with the singer is going from strength-to-strength now he’s convinced her he’s a changed man.

In 2009 he brutally assaulted the pop beauty during a bust-up – a crime he’s still on probation for.

He told US presenter Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM show:

“I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident and that time was probably the worst part of my life and, being that she has and is a wonderful person, I’m eternally grateful and thankful.”

Meanwhile Rihanna has been causing controversy by posting pictures of strippers taken during a night of partying in Calgary.

Yesterday she tweeted a series of X rated snaps featuring naked dancers on her Instagram account, then seemed to regret her decision and deleted them.
