Βασιλιάς στον Καναδά ο Χάμιλτον Κέρδισε το Grand Prix και μείωσε τη διαφορά με τον Ρόσμπεργκ

Την 45η νίκη στην καριέρα του και πέμπτη στο συγκεκριμένο Grand Prix πανηγύρισε ο Λιούις Χάμιλτον στον Καναδά. Αν και παρά την pole position του έχασε από την εκκίνηση την πρωτοπορία από τον Σεμπάστιαν Φέτελ, κατάφερε χάρη στη σωστή στρατηγική της Mercedes να πάρει τη νίκη αφήνοντας δεύτερο τον Γερμανό πιλότο της Ferrari και τρίτο τον Βαλτέρι Μπότας με Williams.
Ο Νίκο Ρόσμπεργκ είδε τη διαφορά του στο πρωτάθλημα να συρρικνώνεται στους εννιά
βαθμούς, καθώς στην εκκίνηση είχε μια επαφή τροχό με τροχό με τον Χάμιλτον, βγήκε εκτός πίστας και όταν επέστρεψε ήταν πλέον ένατος. Στη συνέχεια παρά τις προσπάθειές του δεν κατάφερε να τερματίσει παραπάνω από την πέμπτη θέση. Σαν να μην του έφταναν όλα τα άλλα προβλήματα, ο Γερμανός αναγκάστηκε να μπει στα πιτ στον 53ο γύρο λόγω ενός κλαταρίσματος στο πίσω δεξιό ελαστικό, με αποτέλεσμα να βρεθεί από την τέταρτη θέση πίσω στην έβδομη. Στον τελευταίο γύρο πάνω που κατάφερε να προσπεράσει τον Μαξ Φερστάπεν και να σκαρφαλώσει τέταρτος γλίστρησε και βγήκε εκτός πίστας, αλλά για καλή του τύχη δεν έπεσε σε μπαριέρες, αλλά σε έναν κενό χώρο.
Ραϊκόνεν, Ρικιάρντο, Χούλκενμπεργκ, Σάινθ και Πέρες συμπλήρωσαν τη βαθμολογούμενη δεκάδα. Οι αποχωρήσεις δεν έλειψαν, με τη McLaren του Τζένσον Μπάτον να παίρνει φωτιά και τη Williams του Φελίπε Μάσα να έχει πρόβλημα στον κινητήρα, ενώ μια διαρροή υγρού έθεσε νωρίτερα εκτός αγώνα τη Renault του Τζόλιον Πάλμερ.
Ο επόμενος αγώνας θα γίνει στο Αζερμπαϊτζάν την Κυριακή 19 Ιουνίου.

Pirelli: «Τα ελαστικά του 2017 θα βελτιώσουν κατά πολύ τους χρόνους»

 

Pirelli says the introduction of its wider 2017 tyres will produce an "amazing" outcome for Formula 1. The new rear tyres are 80mm wider than the current ones, with the front ones 60mm wider than the rubber that has been used in the sport in recent times. Next year's tyres will also be heavier, and are expected to provide a significant improvement in laptimes. Although the tyres have not yet been tested on track, Pirelli chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera they will be great for F1. "They look powerful. They give the sense of power. The first test made in the wind tunnel they are proving that the outcome can be amazing," said Provera. Provera says the new tyres are a "very attractive" challenge for the Italian manufacturer, which has supplied F1 teams with tyres since the 2011 season. "It's a major change. Technologically speaking it's very attractive for us," Provera added. "People are very much involved and willing to deliver the best possible performance and I think these tyres can provide an amazing result, because to improve some tenths of a second you have to do a lot of things on the car and the engine. "These tyres, we can improve by seconds, which shows you the importance of the tyres. We are the only piece that touches the ground."

Lewis Hamilton admitted he was "nervous" about the endurance of the ultrasoft tyres in his first stint during the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver stayed on track longer than his main rival Sebastian Vettel, as the German switched to the supersofts early to set up a two-stop strategy.
Hamilton stopped just once, switching to the softs, with which he completed a 46-lap stint to win the Montreal race for the fifth time.
"I wasn't sure how far the ultrasoft would go, I saw graining when I was behind Seb so I was a bit nervous about it," said Hamilton.
"It seemed to last. I could have kept going on the ultrasofts. We swapped, it was a long stint. The information said that the tyre would last a long time and it was a beauty.
"I didn't push too much on it at the beginning but I was very conscious that this guy was pushing. I was enjoying the battle with him – he was so quick, they gave us a run for the money and I happened to be on a one stop."
Hamilton, who had endured a difficult run in the first races of the season, has now won two in a row and is just nine points behind championship leader Nico Rosberg, who held a 43-point advantage after the Spanish Grand Prix.
The world champion labelled the race as one of the best in a while.
"It's overwhelming to think how difficult the season was before the last two races," said Hamilton. "I am grateful and feel blessed. Today I felt was one of the best races for a while," Hamilton added.
"We will just take it one race at a time, continue to improve this car. There is a long way to go, we will keep our heads down."
