Saudi Arabia intercepts two drones targeting Ras Tanura oil refinery

 Saudi Arabia on Monday intercepted two drones targeting the Ras Tanura oil refinery in the country’s east, Defense Ministry Spokesperson Turki al-Maliki told Al Arabiya.


Al-Maliki said that falling debris from the intercepted drones caused a “limited” fire.

Ras Tanura is among the largest oil refining and export facilities in the world.

An official source at the Saudi energy ministry said that the incident didn’t impact the supply of petroleum products to local markets, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

In response to Israeli and US strikes on Iran since Saturday, Iran has been launching indiscriminate drone and missile attacks across countries in the Middle East and the Gulf, including Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom has condemned the attacks on its territory and neighboring Gulf States, stressing that it reserved the right to self-defense and possibly retaliation.
