Carnage in Somalia as bombs and gun battles kill at least 19

A fragile peace is broken in Mogadishu, with at least 19 dead as al Qaeda linked militants launch bomb attacks and gun battles in Somalia. y . People run for safety as a bomb explodes outside law courts and gunmen storm the compound. Later security forces battled with the fighters inside. Inside the compound damage and death. Al Shabaab is claiming responsibility for the attacks.
Witnesses said three gunmen who stormed the court also blew themselves up. (SOUNDBITE)(Somali) EYE WITNESS, MAHAMED ALI, SAYING: "I saw a lot of people on the ground inside the court -- and I am very lucky I survived." Another car bomb apparently targeting a Turkish convoy near the airport killed Turkish nationals. Police say two women were also killed in the blast. Al Shabaab controlled much of the capital between 2009 and 2011 but was forced out by African Union peacekeepers. But the hardline Islamist group which still controls much of the countryside -- is hitting back.
