First agreements have been reached in Geneva on Syria's chemical weapons - after a tiring three days of talks, Russian and American top diplomats say Damascus must reveal its arsenal within a week - and start disarming within a month. Manuel Ochsenreiter, German journalist focusing on the Syrian crisis, joins RT to discuss this issue.
There's little good news in the Eurozone's latest unemployment statistics. Bloc-wide joblessness has grown every month for two and a half years - ever since Greece was given its first bailout. But now, with Merkel's government about to stand the test - it could be crunch time for the single currency.
Three quarters of Americans back efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria through an international agreement to control weapons. That reflects the anti-war feeling that shadowed Obama's request for Congress to authorize an attack. And that sentiment's crucial to preventing further escalation, according to Lawrence Freeman, a political journalist at the Executive Intelligence Review.
US military strikes are being held back and may not take place at all, in no small part thanks to Russia. But, is it a progress in a war that has already cost so many lives? Or are we back to square 1? About this and more we ask our guest Hans Blix, who worked as the UN's Chief Weapons Inspector at the time Iraq was accused of having weapons of mass destruction and and invaded as a result.
Russia and the US have agreed on proposals to remove and destroy Syria's chemical weapons arsenal. It's hoped it could also give some impetus to the stalled attempts to find a peaceful end to the vicious civil conflict. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Secretary of State John Kerry outlined a six-point plan under which Damascus would hand over its chemical stockpiles. Richard Becker, anti-war activist with the international ANSWER coalition, joins RT to discuss the Russia-US agreement on ridding Syria of chemical weapons.
